Today I’d like you to do a random act of kindness…for yourself.
There are so many reasons you deserve to treat yo’ self today. In fact, I can think of so many I will let you pick your own from the list below. (All of them are true, so you can’t get it wrong.)
Select your favorite reason:
- You’ve been working so hard.
- You’ve accomplished so much!
- You’ve had your fair share of challenges.
- You deserve a break.
- You should be treated like a queen.
- You’re hilarious. And fucking sexy.
Now that we have established your worthiness, let’s bestow some kindness, shall we? Go on, treat yo’ self.
- Buy yourself flowers, and put them where you’ll see & smell them most.
- Take a nap, or go to bed early. Mmmmm, sleep.
- Go for a hike and think some new thoughts.
- Eat your favorite candy bar, and don’t feel guilty about the calories in it.
- Even just for a day, stop lecturing yourself in your own head. Insist that your inner voice speak to you with words worthy of the cute, adorable creature you are.
- When you’re making dinner tonight, make double and put some in the freezer. You’re welcome, future self. Dinner’s on me.
- Treat yourself to a decadent bath with a good book. (I’m thinking it might be time to re-read P&P again, myself.)
- Make a checklist of your basic human needs (here’s a start) and hang it where you’ll see it while you’re working. Whenever you find one of your needs isn’t met, take a break to take care of yourself.
- Book an appointment to get a massage.
- Close your eyes, take a deep breath, sit quietly for a moment then ask, what do I want to do most right this second? Do that.
