1. My new serger!
This baby wins VIP of the month. I cooked up a few ideas for new products that require a more professional seam, so I started looking for a serger sewing machine.
(If you want to see what a serger does, grab a standard t-shirt and look at one of the seams holding the pieces together–that’s done by a serger. The thread loops around the fabric and encases the seam so it won’t ravel. It doesn’t stop there…but I need to get on with things if I’m ever going to write about the other 4 things I love this month.)
True to form, I looked for used first. I scored this little beauty for a killer price, and I’m pretty sure it was purchased in 1995 and used exactly once. Once my friend Rachel showed me how to make it run, I thought of a million and one more ideas of new things I can make because a whole new world of sewing has been opened to me now.

2. Buying produce
Nothing beats buying fruits and vegetables at this time of year, when everything takes turns being in peak season and oh so flavorful. Check out this haul I picked up two weekends ago. We ate SO GOOD that week. Lots of smoothies and healthy breakfasts and I can’t get enough and IT’S ALMOST TIME FOR PEACHES, EVERYBODY! Get pumped.

4. Granny squares
I haven’t made any yet, but I’ve been looking at pictures for a several years and what’s not to love? Recently, I decided this is going to happen. Real soon, I’m going to learn how to make some granny squares and make a potholder or a blanket or something awesome. You just wait.
5. Air conditioning
It’s summer, that’s for damn sure. It’s been high 90s and up more often than not in the last few weeks, and I’m loving it. This love is brought to you in part by air conditioning, which gives me a delightful place to get away and cool down in between trips to the pool. Air conditioning makes crazy heat okay.
