1. Apples
Apples, apples everywhere. I’ve acquired and cooked/eaten/preserved at least half my weight in apples this month. So many, in fact, that I’ll be doing and Oops I have too much APPLES next week! Until then: think mulled cider, apple cake and apple butter in the CROCK POT. (Let’s just say the crock pot is a game changer. More soon.) YUM.
2. Notes from the universe
A few months back, I signed up for Notes from the Universe. I get short morning emails that positively brighten my day and leave me in a better mood. Here’s are some examples of two of my favorites:
Always, Michelle, the strong carry the weak, the rich carry the poor, the healthy carry the sick, and the happy carry the sad.
And whether or not they remember it, this was once their promise, to thank those who carried them.
The Universe
All else you may ever ask for, Michelle, during the rest of your entire life and beyond, will still be far less than what you already have.
I love you so, Kiddo –
The Universe
If these warm fuzzies are your style too, sign up for Notes from the Universe here.
3. Fall aromas
It’s started to get a little chilly, so we haven’t had the windows open for fresh air as much lately. So to make the air inside fresher, I’ve been boiling lovely-smelling things on the stove when I’m home. My favorites, you can probably guess, are the spice packets used for mulled cider (after I’ve used them, of course) and leftover vanilla beans after I’ve used them to make vanilla extract (which I’ve had to replenish this month.) Another favorite recipe is here.
4. New lavender sachets!
Introducing my newest addition to the Rosy Blu Etsy shop: sweet smelling lavender sachets! I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I made these sweet little sachets simply because I think they’re pretty, and lavender smells divine. Then I was reading on Martha Stewart’s website that lavender will help repel moths when you store clothes. (And did you know that mothballs are toxic, especially to pets? Not cool.) Therefore I will be peppering my closet and drawers with these sweet little packets from now until the end of time. Watch for them on the Etsy shop this weekend!
5. Mozzarella sticks
There’s not a lot to say about this one, folks. I do love homemade mozzarella sticks, but lately it’s been (gasp!) the freezer kind. They are helping me cope with too many deadlines and not enough time as I’d like to cook…and I’m not sorry.
