1. Hedgehogs
I love them, and particularly lately, so they are on the list. Don’t ask questions. But you may ponder their cuteness as much as you like.
2. Autumn leaves
I got to see the fall colors peak twice this month, once at home, and once in Nashville last weekend. I feel like I’ve had more than my fair share of scenic autumn splendor, and I like it.
3. Air plants
I did not know these were a thing until my brother’s wife introduced them to me over the weekend, and I bought one of my very own. It’s a living plant that doesn’t need dirt to grow. SERIOUSLY. It’s like magic.
4. The flying of air planes
The very act of being at an airport fills me with awe, watching the big huge planes filled with people gracefully lift into the air, over and over.
My brother is a pilot for Jet Blue, and mentioned this weekend that he will upgrade to flying an Airbus someday. He already flies a very large plane. But an Airbus…it’s just so big. That’s the real deal.
On one level, this was a completely expected and unsurprising statement that he would fly an Airbus; on another level it quite blew my mind. My big brother flies planes. Through the air. For his job. THROUGH THE AIR.
As an individual with only a mean understanding of weather patterns, thrust, drag and such things, this quite impresses me.
5. Baby bumps
Specifically, my sister’s:
Look at how cute it is! I got to feel the baby kick, which was absolutely incredible. And I personally witnessed my sister’s eyes pop out of her head at the offering of pizza rolls not once, but twice during our week together. (Baby loves pizza rolls.) She is definitely with child.
Miracle of growing a kid in a belly + the fact that the mommy is my very own big sister = I don’t even know how to process the happy.
