Why, hello there! Just popping in to say I’m having a nutty week and don’t have much time to spare for blogging until next week. I’m sandwiched between two super fun weekends, and as a result, I’m feeling a shortage of time during the evenings this week.
Last weekend, my big sister and her friend came to visit from Denver. They both love thrifting, like me, and they helped me find some AWESOME new stuff for Rosy Blu Vintage! They’re also testing some new products for me for Rosy Blu Handmade–there’s some exciting things on the way in both shops that I can’t wait to tell you about!
Next weekend we’re going on a canoeing/camping trip on the Black River, so when I’m not working, I’m cramming in laundry and weekend prep like grocery shopping and packing.
Aaaaand…I broke my strict no-canning-unless-I-have-a-full-afternoon-so-I-don’t-go-crazy rule to do my first big canning undertaking of the year. What in the world would make me break such a wise and sanity-saving rule? PEACHES! I couldn’t pass up this once-a-year opportunity to pick up two huge boxes of tasty peak-season peaches at a great price. Jon helped me can half tonight, and two of my cousins are coming tomorrow night (and bringing even more peaches!) to do a second canning session. Canned peaches are the best.
I also wanted to show you the project I started over the weekend…isn’t it glorious?
It’s going to be a lamp shade. It’s actually a thrifted planter turned upside down and spray-painted white (it used to be forest green, ew.) It’s not technically fitted to be a lampshade, but I’m going to pull something together…somehow.
I got the idea from this post (found via Pinterest), and fell madly in love with the patterned scallops. With the help of Google Translate to decipher the Norwegian text, I learned that the post does not, in fact, include a pattern, so I figured it out as close as I could (and did a little bit of guessing) based on looking at the picture. Considering the fact that I’ve been winging it, I’m quite happy with how it’s going so far. I’ll show you a pic when it’s all done!
Must run, the last batch of peaches are ready to pull out of the canner.
How about you, any fun plans for next weekend? Will I be the only one camping out in the wild?
