I’m excited to finish this post today, because after that, I get to go grocery shopping. It’s going to be a pretty fun Friday morning. Raise your hand if you are also making corned beef & cabbage for St Patty’s day next week! I make mine in the crock pot. It’s so divine.
In other news, I have a new favorite quote, found via the lovely Abby Kerr on Pinterest. Read this, and tell me you don’t feel a tug toward the kind of power water has:
Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can’t go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.
~ Margaret Atwood, The Penelopiad
(Incidentally, The Penelopiad is now on my “I want to read that” list.)
Garlic bread. I cannot get enough garlic bread lately. I am going to share with you the way I make it very, very soon, and then you will be eating more garlic bread too. (Also, sidenote, I heard lately that the more garlic you eat, the less offensive your garlic breath will become. I feel like that’s an argument for eating more garlic, no? nom nom nom.)
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. That Stephen Covey was one smart cookie. The first time I ever read it, I half expected it to be lame and dull. Little did I know, I cranked through it like a page-turner, and now I’m back for more. I usually read less than a chapter before I have to stop reading and write down an idea I have for how I can implement more awesome in my life.
Getting ready for a second launch of Love What You Have! Mark your calendar for April 4—that’s when the second {amazing} session of my Love What You Have course will start! Love What You Have is a course delivered via email, one lesson each day, designed to shine a spotlight on what you already have. To gather it all up, give it a great big hug and feel the effects of the abundance around you. (While providing you with other delightful side-effects, like curbing your shopping addiction—with ease—and helping you to see things in your home and life you didn’t even notice were there.)
I’m so excited to run the course again, especially after the amazing feedback I got from students who took it the first time around. I’ll be sharing more details next week, but in the mean time, be sure you’re signed up for my email list, because SHHHH DON’T TELL* I’ll be offering a limited time discount to Rosy Blu email subscribers only.
After I organized my pinterest boards, I organized Evernote, which is where I dump all my ideas and to-dos and plans for the future and notes about things I want to remember. My thoughts are now thoroughly organized, you guys. I don’t know how long it will last, but it feels amazing, and the new ideas are flowing! Liiiike, hats for cats in the Etsy shop. JUST KIDDING. I haven’t gone that far over the adorable animal edge. Yet. **WINKYFACE**
* That’s a big fat lie. I actually would be super thrilled if you told everyone you know.
- The other half of the “beautiful, loved and useful” coin is letting go of the things that are not. With that in mind, I LOVED Randi Buckley’s article Dare to disengage:
“I dare you to disengage, to unplug, to remove yourself as the circuitry from a conversation, situation, a moment, a relationship, a thought… that is not one you want to be a part of.
Disengagement says “not like this”. It’s a powerful thing to do. Sometimes, it is the kindest and most compassionate thing for all involved.
- I love this article by Tsh on The Art of Simple. For a long time I was chasing someone else’s idea of simple, and was therefore feeling guilty about my choices, even when they were right for me. Half of the equation when seeking your own simple life is knowing—and honoring—your own brand of simplicity.
- This article by Chela Davison (brought to my attention via Justine Musk on Twitter) speaks to one step in the process of life transformation which I totally sympathize with—the place where you know what you want your life to be, or what it can be, but you’re not there yet. And you’re impatient about it. The perspective you take moving forward from that place makes all the difference. Aaaaand, that’s why I created Love What You Have.
- My nephew (who just turned one) is coming to visit on Sunday. I can’t wait to squeeze him and point at things together and say “Oh!” and giggle at kitties while chasing them while covertly making sure the tyke doesn’t pull their tails or piss them off. LITTLE KIDS ARE SO FUN. Plus, his mama (my big sister) is the most amazing sister ever, and we’re going to eat fondue together. Nothing but good things in my future!
Happy Friday, friends!
