You can learn a lot about your self (and others) by what they like to talk about. I want you to know me better, so here is a list of my favorite things to talk about*. These are the things that tend to invoke a response from me, and make me say, oh yes, THAT! Or NO, and here’s why. If you ever see me on the street, consider these conversation starters so we can be friends.
- Things that are cute and little, like cats, babies and hedgehogs. (Things like this and this and this never get old. And this.)
- What we value, and how that affects (and should affect) what we do
- What we buy and what we keep. And how what we have relates to who we are and what we do.
- The space between what we do and what we want to be doing.
- Food: growing it, buying it, cooking it, eating it, sharing it and thoroughly enjoying it.
- Things I make myself, things I don’t make myself, and why.
- How love shows up and where (hint: everywhere).
- What’s natural, what’s not and why it matters.
- The quest for just the right amount of simplicity.
- Good design and bad design.
- The past: How we define it, how it affects us, and what it teaches us (individually and as a society).
- What it means to be a whole person.
- Eliminating waste (in the form of time, energy, money, resources and opportunity).
- And, after the waste is gone, the stuff that’s left over. You know, the stuff that matters.
This is my cat, Charlie (cute + little) sitting in a knitting basket (vintage, as in: from the past). See that? This picture kills two birds with one stone.
I also like to talk about how clever I am, and my cats.
Phew. Now, your turn!
