Top ten posts of 2014

January 8, 2015 by Michelle Leave a Comment

Happy New Year, darlings!

We sure had fun this year, didn’t we? I’m excited to welcome 2015, as I’m sure you are, but before we fully step into the new year, I wanted to take a brief stroll down memory lane to review the top 10 most popular posts of 2014.

As always, I adore you. Thank you so much for reading. It’s so fun to think these posts are on a “top ten” list because actual humans read them, and liked them. That gets me every time.

1. 30 things I want to tell my younger self

Apparently, I’ve learned a lot in 30 years. In honor of my 30th birthday in January, I shared 30 of those things. But the real reason you’ll want to click on this post is to see the sequined dress with hot pink puffy sleeves I wore for my 4th grade school picture. HOTT.

2. 16 ways to improve your habitat in 5 minutes or less

I wrote this because I don’t like tips that take a long time or an extraneous amount of energy; quite honestly, that just doesn’t make me get up out of my chair. Apparently, you also like 5-minute fixes—and here are some of my favorite quick & easy ways to fix up your habitat.

You want me to clean what now?

3. 9 ways to take care of your basic human needs

I was a little surprised (but not that surprised) to learn that the tip that resonated most with people is to go to the bathroom, right now (not after one more email—NOW). Because no one wins when you hold it in.

4. Notes to my younger self

Once again, I shared more lessons I wish I’d learned earlier…this time with in-depth stories of my prior stupidity inexperience. This time, I’ll tell you about the time I cried at the bank, and also how I learned the magical rule where if you ask for what you want, you might actually get it.

5. The barometer you didn’t know you had

Can I just tell you how stoked I was that you guys were stoked about this idea, too? It’s one of the biggest light-bulb moments I’ve ever had about my home, and it resonated with a lot of you, too.

What is the condition of your home telling you?

6. Hallelujah, I’ve solved my personal food crisis (+ my 7 truths)

This year was pretty monumental, as far as food goes. And I lost a bunch of weight, too. Aside from fitting into my favorite jeans again, it feels pretty great to have the energy and agility of being my right body size again…while not dieting or keeping myself from the foods I love. Read more about my strategies here.
I'm never dieting again.

7. Bedroom decor inspiration (my breakthrough, in pictures)

The sad news is I got a different bedspread, because apparently my husband hates duvets with the fire of A THOUSAND SUNS. But my bedroom is looking very pretty! And I found the perfect wall sconces.

8. Meal plan stressing you out? Try this one tip.

I seriously LOVE this one tip. It’s easy as hell, and makes you HAPPIER I swear.

9. Cleaning: A chore or self care?

This is a paradigm-shifting realization I had about cleaning, that has changed the chore ever since. (Don’t worry, though, I still make messes.)

So fresh and so clean clean

10. 9 reasons to make your food from scratch

OMG, why haven’t I made focaccia bread recently? Crime.

A few honorable mentions:

Here are a few more of my own favorite posts that didn’t quite make the top ten, but still deserve a little bit of spotlight. Because I love them, or because they changed me.

  • 2014: The year of creating space (The experiment went AWESOME, and I’m publishing a book about it. Stay tuned.)
  • This one time, at Pioneer Camp…
  • The Ultimate [Anti] Packing List: how to remember everything without a list
  • Bittersweet things.
  • I’M SELF EMPLOYED! and other wonderful news

Okay! Now that you have enough reading material to keep you busy…I’ll be back next week with some awesome new posts.

Happy New Year everyone!

xoxo
