Remember This is a periodic blog series of thoughts, quotes and inspiration that I want to remember—and you might, too. Things I’ve learned about life so far, and don’t want to forget (like my human brain has a tendency to do). You can view the introduction to the series here.
True, pure beauty is a worthy pursuit.
You won’t find true beauty where “they” tell you to look.
Chasing shallow beauty will leave you with an empty feeling. Real beauty fills you up.
Beauty is not
fleeting.
unattainable.
perfect.
straining.
Beauty does not
age.
flaunt.
wash off at night.
change on a scale.
True beauty is
snuggling with the cat in a patch of sunlight.
the look you share with your partner on your wedding day. Or over a box of pizza.
the color of the dress you wore on your first date, that brings back the feeling of butterflies in your stomach.
letting your child (or cat) interrupt your down dog because she wants a hug, and you want nothing else in the world than to give it to her.
the moment you meet a tiny human who is new to the world.
or the moment you meet a grown-up human, who is new to you.
choosing belongings that have already been loved by someone else.
when the colors and textures come together just so in a room, and the result reminds you how good you can feel when you walk through the door—more calm, or more energetic or more like you.
a meal so good the first bite makes your jaw ache.
a good night’s sleep, and waking up fresh and excited for a new day.
making someone’s day better. With a hug, a piece of pie, a couch to nap on.
tears of joy and tears of letting go.
imperfect, and always changing.
If you learn how to listen for it, you will find the beautiful things will sing to you, and your heart will hear them.
These are the things you should collect around you. Beautiful people, beautiful foods, beautiful belongings, beautiful gifts, beautiful habits, beautiful memories.
Make something beautiful happen today.

Next up on the blog I’ll be sharing a super easy tip for adding more beauty in your home…especially if you’re a commitment-phobe like me, when it comes to hanging things on your walls! xoxo
